Spellstone is the virtual home of Alex Morgan, an artist based
the UK. Alex studied graphic design and photography at Norwich School of Art. Since
graduating in 1990 Alex taught both photography and the history of photography. She has
twelve years experience as a professional scientific illustrator/photographer with the
University of Oxford. As a professional photographer she spent long years in a darkened
room with two large inflatable frogs (don't ask).
Alex has emerged from the dark several times during the course of her
career to exhibit artwork and has done so both as a photographer and as an illustrator.
Alex's interest in natural pigments came to the fore in the exhibition 'True Colours'
a one-man show introducing the use of natural dyes on paper. Alex now works full time
as a freelance graphic designer and illustrator.
The Spellstone portfolio presents a selection of recent work by Alex Morgan.
Alex now has ten pattern books in publication, investigating diverse cultural vocabularies in pattern, currently on
sale through Tap-Dancing Lizard.com.
